Case 36

Two-dimensional echocardiograms

Cross-sectional view of the left ventricle in diastole

The endocardial surface of the interventricular septum is markedly hyperechoic (fibrotic) and there is a band that traverses the body of the left ventricle

Cross-sectional view of the left ventricle in diastole

Similar view to the one above

Long-axis view of the left ventricle and left atrium

The upper portion of the interventricular septum is very fibrotic and a piece of fibrotic tissue connects this area to the left ventricular free wall.

Long-axis view of the left ventricle and enlarged left atrium

Short-axis view of the aorta and enlarged left atrium

No thrombus is visible since it has already released into the systemic circulation.
