Case 37

The following is a letter written by the referring veterinarian.

Dear Doctors,

We wanted to inform you that Howie died at home approximately 10 weeks after you examined him. He had done extremely well since his visit to you. He had continued to grow and was up to 22 kg . He had received all of his vaccinations and was on Heartgard Plus. One week prior to his death we examined him for a neuter (which was not performed) and noted an arrhythmia. No ECG was performed. The heart rate was 100 beats/minute. The owners described his death as very rapid. He refused to follow them from room to room and then cried and, according to the owner's description, went into an agonal state. That process took less than 15 minutes.
