Hematology is the “study of blood,” including the formation of blood elements, also known as hematopoiesis, blood borne diseases, and pathology of blood cells.  Our hematology laboratory offers a wide arrange of tests in this discipline and the staff also works closely with the Transfusion Medicine and Regenerative Medicine Lab.

Complete blood and cell counts are performed on a Siemens ADVIA® 120 Hematology System since July 2002. The ADVIA 120 System offers user- friendly and veterinary-based sample handling and software, as well as gold standard flow cytometry testing.  We provide reference intervals for many veterinary species generated from the referral sample base of the VMTH.
