Jackie Woelz, DPT, MS
Dr. Woelz is a licensed physical therapist and Chief of Service of the Physical Rehabilitation Service. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from the University of California, San Diego, she worked at the San Diego Zoo, Scripps Institution of Oceanography and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. In 1991, she completed a Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy at the University of the Pacific, Stockton, California. She practiced for 12 years as a human physical therapist in hospitals and outpatient clinics. For the past 9 years, she has translated physical therapy protocols to benefit veterinary patients as an animal physical therapist. In 2009, she completed a Doctorate in Physical Therapy degree at Marymount University, Arlington, Virginia. Her clinical interests include small animal locomotor training after spinal cord injury and improving mobility in aging canine companions. Dr. Woelz educates veterinary students about the benefits of physical rehabilitation and senior students may elect to complete a rotation through the service. She lectures at the school of veterinary medicine, as well as, national and international veterinary symposia.
