- Dr. Amy Kapatkin, DVM, MS, DACVS
- Dr. Amy Kapatkin is a specialist in all aspects of orthopedic surgery and neurosurgery. Dr. Kapatkin earned her DVM degree in 1981 at the Gregorio Araneta University in the Philippines. She did her internship and residency at The Animal Medical Center in New York City. She became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1997. Before joining the faculty at UC Davis, she served on the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania. She received her MS degree in Clinical Research at UC Davis in 2007.
Dr. Kapatkin's research interests are in kinetics (the force of motion) and kinematics (the motion of joints), which give an objective measure of how a patient is progressing after treatment or surgery and evidence-based medicine.
- Dr. Kei Hayashi, BVMS, DVM, PhD, DACVS
- Dr. Kei Hayashi graduated from the University of Tokyo, Veterinary
Medical Science in 1993 with a focus in small animal medicine and
surgery and a post-doctoral degree in Veterinary Medical Science
in 1997. Concurrently he also completed a post-doctoral degree in
Comparative Biomedical Sciences at the University of Wisconsin. He
then completed a fellowship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery and a
residency in Small Animal Surgery at the University of Wisconsin in 2003.
Dr. Hayashi is a member of the orthopedic surgery service at the University
of California - Davis. His areas of expertise include all aspects of orthopedic
surgery and minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Hayashi has numerous research
publications, and has contributed to text book chapters in the field of small
