Courses
|
The veterinary dentistry curriculum for DVM-students offered at UC
Davis has three components: (1) a 2.4-unit (24-hour) didactic lecture
course; (2) three 4-hour practical sessions;
and (3) a 2-week clinical rotation. All three
components are part of the elective curriculum. In addition, the VSR407R course is offered to the residents. It consists of weekly 2-hour reviews of the current literature pertaining to comparative oral biology, surgery and medicine, and related basic sciences; half of the sessions are based on topics assigned by the Residency Director, while the other half consist of critical reviews of recent papers chosen by the participants.

Facilities |
The didactic lecture course is taught in a traditional lecture room
and the laboratory course in a dedicated eight-dental unit laboratory
facility. The clinical rotation takes place in the Michael
R. Floyd Dental Operatory, a three-unit dental clinic within the Veterinary
Medical Teaching Hospital.
