The laboratory research is focused on the histology and immunochemistry of animal tissues with the goal to support the department veterinarians in the development of therapeutics. We act as an accessory to clinical imaging and diagnosis of such diseases as osteosarcomas, mast cell tumors and lymphomas. Much of the work we do is on dogs but recently our projects have expanded into cats and horses as well.
In many of our procedures we do imaging using a Zeiss AxioImager and AxioVision software. We have capabilities to do fluorescent and brightfield microscopy as well as outstanding qualitative and quantitative analysis. We also have the capacity to do Confocal Microscopy using an Olympus FX-1000 system.
