Nuclear Medicine (NM):
The CIS maintains a rectangular large field-of-view gamma camera and dedicated computer system (Technicare Omega 500) for planar scintigraphic imaging of small and large animals using a variety of radiopharmaceuticals and radionuclides. A hot lab is also maintained on premises for preparation and handling of radiopharmaceuticals. Other instrumentation includes a well counter for quantification of tissue or fluid sample radioactivity following administration of radiotracers. The Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital is currently exploring new scintigraphy units to upgrade this imaging service. (Room 118, Vet Med II)
