At the Diagnostics Imaging Laboratory research is focused on histology and immunochemistry of animal tissues with the goal to support the department veterinarians in the development of therapeutics. We act as an accessory to clinical imaging and diagnosis of diseases such as osteosarcomas, mast cell tumors and lymphomas. Much of the work we do is on dogs but recently our projects have expanded into cats and horses as well.
The lab is well outfitted with state of the art microscopic imaging equipment and software featuring a Zeiss Axio Imager A1 for techniques with a range of objectives on a compound microscope such as brightfield, darkfield, and fluorescence. In addition there is a Zeiss SteREO Discovery V.12 with fluorescence for lower magnification stereo and dissecting microscope needs.
Our imaging needs are fulfilled with a Zeiss Axiocam MRc, color research camera, and AxioVision Software, a powerful combination for image acquisition, processing, qualitative and quantitative analysis.
