Prospective DVM Students

VSTP applications are accepted annually from prospective DVM students who have applied to, or who have been accepted in, a graduate group at UC Davis. Successful VSTP applicants will be chosen based on the following factors:

  • Commitment to research
  • Quality of the proposed research program
  • Letters of evaluation from persons familiar with the applicant's past/present research
  • Scholastic achievement (undergraduate/graduate programs)
  • Graduate Record Examination (taken no later than Oct. 1)

DVM APPLICATION DEADLINE: October 2nd of the application year

PhD APPLICATION DEADLINE: Check program of study.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

1. Completed DVM application (submitted via VMCAS) You do not have to submit the optional Career Diversity Form with the DVM application if submitting the VSTP Application.

2. Completed VSTP application form. Deadline is October 2nd.

3. A Statement of Intent No more than two (2) pages and minimum 11 point font. Include research background, interests, research experience, and reasons for pursuing a combined degree program. Please note: The personal statement submitted with the DVM application may not be substituted for the VSTP statement.

4. Copy of PhD Application for admission to the Graduate Group if filed after Jan 1st, or copy of acceptance letter from the Graduate Group.

5. Letters of recommendation Minimum four (4) letters as part of the DVM application of which one letter addresses your research potential.

6. Resumé or curriculum vitae and list of any publications.

7. GRE Scores sent directly to UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, Institution Code 4804.

8. All Official College Transcripts.

All documents must be postmarked by October 2nd and submitted to:
