First Kitchell Fellowship Goes to UC Davis Scholar
The first fellowship from the Ralph L. Kitchell Memorial Fellowship Fund at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine has been awarded to Jason A. West.
The fellowship was endowed by a generous gift from the widow of Ralph L. Kitchell, a professor at the School of Veterinary Medicine for many years. The Ralph L. Kitchell Memorial Fellowship Fund provides an annual stipend to be awarded to graduate students with instructional proposals related to veterinary students. The award is based on evaluation by faculty in the Department of Anatomy, Physiology, and Cell Biology.
West's winning proposal integrates information from the basic sciences with highly detailed images to augment existing lectures and laboratory experiments for respiratory physiology and anatomy. The format he is developing is designed to be viewed via computer Web page, making it accessible to many students.
Mary Clare Kitchell honors his dedication to the teaching profession with her gift. Dr. Kitchell, one of the School's most distinguished and beloved teachers, earned many awards over the years.
