Monday, September 18, the School of Veterinary Medicine hosts Dr. W.R. “Twink” Allen as the 2006 Oscar W. Schalm Lecturer.
All are cordially invited to hear his talk, "Magic Moments in Mammalian Pregnancy," taking place noon to 1 p.m. in 170 Schalm Lecture Hall, located in the Health Sciences District of the UC Davis campus.
The event is free, and refreshments will be served.
Dr. Allen is the Director and Jim Joel Professor of Equine Reproduction at the Equine Fertility Unit in Newmarket, United Kingdom. Dr. Allen received his BVSc at the University of Sydney and his PhD and ScD at the University of Cambridge. He was also awarded the FRCVS from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Dr. Allen’s various research interests include: Endocrinological and immunological aspects of early pregnancy in equids, equine embryogenesis and the recovery, culture, long-term storage micromanipulation and transfer of equine embryos, the diagnosis and treatment of equine endometrosis, and infertility states affecting spermatogenesis in the stallion.
