Early Recruitment: "Future Day"

April 28, 2010

April 28, 2010

The Veterinary Student Outreach Club is pleased to announce our annual Future Day on May 2nd, 2010.

This on-campus event is an opportunity for students in high schools and 4-H/ FFA groups from different areas of California to get a taste of the different careers available in veterinary medicine.

With the participation of other veterinary student clubs, we have set up six presentations for the participants in different areas of veterinary medicine.  This year, we have the Wildlife and Aquatic Medicine club, the Veterinary Pathology club, the Avian and Exotic Animal Medicine club, the Lab Animal Medicine club, the Food Animal Reproduction and Medicine club and the Veterinary Emergency Response Team presenting sessions. In addition, participants will be given a tour of the William R. Pritchard Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital.

Future Day has historically been a successful event, and we currently have over 100 students registered for this year's event. Future Day is free to students, and lunch is provided through the gracious support of Nestlé-Purina.

The Veterinary Student Outreach Club has recruited about 30 veterinary students to help out with various aspects of the event, including demo leaders, group chaperones, and tour guides. The Dean's Office at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine also supports our endeavor.

Future Day begins at 9:15 a.m. with an introductory talk in 1030 Gladys Valley Hall. Other presentations begin at 10:00 a.m.

If you have any questions about Future Day or the VSO club, please feel free to contact us.
