Dr. Kathryn Koehler Joins Veterinary Ophthalmology Faculty
Dr. Kathryn Koehler
Dr. Kathryn Koehler joined the Department of Surgical and Radiological Sciences as a Health Sciences Assistant Clinical Professor of Veterinary Ophthalmology, effective July 1, 2012
Dr. Koehler received her BS in Biology from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1994 and her DVM from the University of California, Davis in 1998. She then went on to complete a one-year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Florida. She returned to UC Davis in 1999, and completed a residency in Comparative Ophthalmology and achieved Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in 2002.
Following her residency, Dr. Koehler was an associate in a private ophthalmology practice in the Sacramento area for 6 years before returning as a staff veterinarian at UC Davis in 2008. She has become an integral member of the Ophthalmology Service, especially with regards the clinical guidance and mentorship of senior students and residents. UC Davis is delighted to welcome her into a permanent position as an Assistant Clinical Professor.
Dr. Koehler’s professional interests include all aspects of ophthalmic surgery, ocular manifestations of systemic disease and the education of future veterinarians in the field of ophthalmology.
