Dr. Silvia Carnaccini, resident in avian medicine and Dr. H. L. Shivaprasad, professor of avian pathology, recently won awards from the American Association of Avian Pathologists (AAAP).

Dr. H. L. Shivaprasad, professor of avian pathology and Dr. Silvia Carnaccini, resident in avian medicine with the California Animal Health and Food Safety Laboratory System at the School of Veterinary Medicine have won awards at a recent American Association of Avian Pathologists conference held in Boston.

Shivaprasad received the ‘Lasher-Bottorff’ Award in recognition for his significant contributions as an Avian Pathologist to the Poultry Health Programs in North America.

Carnaccini won the ‘Best Field/Case/Diagnostic Report’ for her presentation on “Hemorrhagic Hepatopathy Syndrome in Salmonella Enteritidis Vaccinated Pullets in California, 2013-2014.”

Shivaprasad is with the lab system’s Tulare branch, while Carnaccini is with the Turlock branch.
