Global One Health Day - November 3, 2016

Global One Health Day - November 3, 2016

On November 3, individuals and groups from around the world, from academic to corporate and non-profit, students to established professionals, will have the opportunity to implement One Health projects and special events under the auspices of “One Health Day.” UC Davis and the One Health Institute will be among those taking part.

One Health is a movement to forge co-equal, all-inclusive collaborations, in both research and applied sciences, between human and veterinary medical healthcare providers, social scientists, dentists, nurses, agriculturalists and food producers, wildlife and environmental health specialists and many other related disciplines.

Three leading international One Health groups, the One Health Commission, the One Health Initiative Autonomous pro bono Team, and the One Health Platform Foundation have partnered to make One Health Day a reality.
The activities at UC Davis will extend from November 3rd through November 5th.

On November 3rd, we will join colleagues from around the world by gathering for live-streamed events. A list of live streams will be released as the event draws near.

The day will also feature a competition among students who are planning One Health Day events. Three award-winning events will be selected by a jury of renowned international One Health experts to receive a $5,000 cash prize. If you are planning something or if you would like to participate in the events already being planned, contact so we can ensure a great and coordinated effort.

On November 4th, Students for One Health will host a panel at the School of Veterinary Medicine, where current veterinary students will have a chance to pick the brains of faculty members and doctoral students, all working in the fields of One Health and Wildlife.

On November 5th, the One Health Institute will host an all-day symposium featuring experts across many disciplines from UC Davis and beyond. Discussion topics will range from Zika virus and the distribution of mosquitos and other vectors, to respiratory disease caused by environmental particulates, to disaster preparedness and response.  The Deans of the UC Davis Schools of Nursing, Medicine and Veterinary Medicine will give the day’s capstone address.
You can register online. Here is the planned agenda for the day:
