Leslie is the current Director of the National Wildlife
Health Center in Wisconsin and the latest board member of the Wildlife
Health Center. Leslie brings a mix of public policy, veterinary and
wildlife expertise to the board. As a former Congressional consultant,
Leslie helped draft many of today’s marine protection laws. |

A commercial helicopter pilot by trade, Karen has
dedicated endless hours as a volunteer working to help animals. She
volunteered with the sea otter program at the Monterey Bay Aquarium
for a decade and, in doing so, became devoted to helping sustain healthy
free-ranging wildlife populations. |

Former CEO of Teledyne Components and current President
of Kalydus Asset Advisors, LLC, Phil brings the Center decades of
business experience. He is currently working with Center staff to
create a strategic plan for the 2004-05 year. |

Known for her appearances on the Johnny Carson show
sharing the wildlife from the San Diego Zoo, Embery has dedicated
her career to conservation and wildlife education. Embery brings to
the board expertise in wildlife issues, community relations and public
outreach. For the Southern California Program, Embery has participated
in several community events and provided an important connection with
the San Diego community. |

Soames is a marine biologist and award-winning filmmaker. His films are focused on environmental and conservation issues. In 1982, he created the highly acclaimed IMAX® film of the Galápagos. His work has earned him many awards, including at the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival and at the Wildscreen Film Festival in London. He brings to the board expertise in translating scientific and conservation issues into meaningful information for the general public. |

Judy has worn many hats …. Teacher, computer support specialist, and telecommunications engineer, but her passion has always been wildlife and conservation. She volunteered with the San Diego Zoo for eight years, is CEO of the Wheatley Foundation, involved with several conservation and wildlife organizations, and is an avid dressage rider. As our newest advisory board member, she brings expertise in technology and non-profit fundraising.
