This oyster, also called the Virginia Oyster, Atlantic Oyster, American Oyster, or Common Oyster, is native to the Atlantic Ocean from the Gulf of the St. Lawrence River to Brazil. They were intentionally introduced in Washington for commercial purposes. These oysters favor estuaries and bays. They occur intertidally and subtidally. |
