Caspian Tern (Sterna caspia)
PHOTO

The Caspian Tern is the largest of the terns and is often found nesting in association with various gull colonies throughout the Puget Sound Georgia Basin region. The overall population of the species is increasing. Due to the small size and location of colonies in British Columbia, the Caspian tern is very susceptible to human disturbance and is Blue listed by British Columbia. For more information please see British Columbia’s Species Summary for the Caspian tern at http://wlapwww.gov.bc.ca/wld/documents/spsum/ABNNM08020.pdf
