Brandt's cormorant (Phalacrocorax penicillatus)

Brandt's cormorants are winter residents in the inland waters of Washington and British Columbia and occasionally breed at the western end of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Their nesting colonies are especially sensitive to human activity. This species is a candidate for listing in Washington state and is a candidate for extirpated, endangered, or threatened status in British Columbia (red list).
