Forster's Tern (Sterna forsteri )
PHOTO

The Forster’s tern is both insectivorous and piscivorous meaning it feeds on both insects and fish throughout the Puget Sound Georgia Basin marine ecosystem. Constructing their nests close to shore has made them particularly susceptible to disturbance by fluctuating water levels. With the exception of their sensitivity to both windstorm waves and boat wake, little is know about the limiting factors of the Forster’s tern. The Province of British Columbia has currently Red listed the Forster’s tern and it is listed as data deficient by the Canadian Federal Government.
