The American Golden Plover is a shorebird that tends to nest in dry tundra areas with low vegetation. It is a spring and fall migrant to the Puget Sound Georgia Basin region and forages on mudflats and sandy beaches feeding on a variety of invertebrates. There is currently only one confirmed nesting site for this species in British Columbia and due to low population levels, British Columbia has this bird on its Blue list. For more information on the American Golden Plover please visit British Columbia’s Species Summary at http://wlapwww.gov.bc.ca/wld/documents/spsum/ABNNB02030.pdf |
