On February 23, 2018, the first all-UC Davis ICSI foal was born at the School of Veterinary Medicine's Center for Equine Health. Aptly named Petri, see here her process from conception in the laboratory, through pregnancy, birth, and finally a healthy happy foal in the pasture!

Horse Syndrome Linked to Autism?

UC Davis equine veterinarians, tracking the cause of a set of bizarre and sometimes lethal behaviors in newborn horses, suspect the disorder is caused by the foals’ failure to fully transition from the womb to the conscious world. Some of the affected marine mammals and birds died, but many others were recovered and rehabilitated. The Oiled Wildlife Care Network attached GPS tracking devices to 12 brown pelicans to find out more about their recovery.
