Diversity and Inclusion
"Lead efforts to increase Underrepresented Veterinary Medical (URVM) students within the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine and foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students."
The School of Veterinary Medicine embraces diversity and inclusion as essential values of the educational environment and the veterinary profession. Diversity incorporates the variety of personal experiences, values, and worldviews that arise from differences of culture and circumstance. Respecting diversity means understanding each individual is unique and recognizing our individual differences. Such differences include race, ethnicity, gender, age, religion, language, abilities/disabilities, sexual orientation, gender identity, socioeconomic status, geographic region, religious beliefs, political beliefs, or other ideologies. Promoting diversity is about understanding each other and moving beyond simple tolerance to embracing the rich dimensions of diversity contained within each individual. Our team strives to prepare students for meaningful and responsible engagement within and across diverse communities.
