[DEI] Islamophobia as anti-Arab, anti-Palestinian, and anti Muslim violence

Event Date

Location
Valley Hall 1020

Islamophobia, the dislike or prejudice against Muslims is both an act of violence and a political force in the United States.  Since the events of 9/11 2001, Muslims in America have faced increased anti-Muslim hate in subversive and overt forms of racism. Now, as the Israeli and Palestinian conflict continues to wage throughout the Middle East, our campuses continue to experience anti-Muslim, anti-Arab, and anti-Palestinian actions within our community. This session explores the historic roots, the complicated intersections of racism, colonialism, and anti-Muslim attitudes as well as reveals the complicating factors that have occurred on campus related to free speech, discourse, and dialogue.
