Dr. Mauricio Navarro has joined the California Animal Health and Food Safety Laboratory and the Department of Pathology, Microbiology & Immunology as Assistant Professor of Clinical Diagnostic Pathology effective February 1, 2026.

Dr. Navarro received his DVM (2011) and his MSc (2013) in Animal Health from the Universidad Austral de Chile, Valdivia, Chile.  He then obtained his PhD (2018) in Integrative Pathology from the University of California, Davis, CA.  Dr. Navarro completed a 3-year postdoctoral scholar position and became board certified in 2021 from the American College of Veterinary Pathologist (ACVP).  From 2021-present, Dr. Navarro has served as Assistant Professor of Veterinary Anatomic Pathology, Universidad Austral de Chile, Valdiva, Chile.

Dr. Navarro’s research focuses on infectious diseases of animals with special emphasis on clostridial diseases.
