Dr. Denis Marcellin-Little Wins National Educator Award
UC Davis veterinary orthopedic surgeon Dr. Denis Marcellin-Little has been named the recipient of the 2026 Alan Ruggles Educator Award given by AO North America (AO NA). Presented recently at the annual OneAO event in Tampa, the award was one of several Educator Awards, honoring outstanding educators for their extraordinary contributions to medical education.
These prestigious awards recognize individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to training medical professionals—both physicians and veterinarians—at every stage of their careers across a wide range of specialties, including orthopedic trauma, spine, craniomaxillofacial, and hand surgery.
Dr. Denis Marcellin-Little was selected for this honor in recognition of his decades-long dedication to veterinary education and mentorship.
Throughout his 30+ years of teaching, Dr. Marcellin-Little has mentored veterinary students, residents, and fellows in both clinical and research environments. A long-standing member of AO VET NA, his clinical work focuses on joint replacement and limb deformities, while his research explores surgical planning, bone healing, and the management of chronic pain and disability.
