UC Davis Students Attend CDC's "League of Extraordinary Veterinarians" Event

Eight UC Davis veterinary students and two faculty mentors, Drs. Beatrice Martinez-Lopez and Janet Foley, joined hundreds of veterinary students and faculty from across the country at CDC Veterinary Student Day on January 13 and 14. The biannual conference focuses on the critical role veterinary medicine plays in global public health and encourages student interest in veterinary public practice careers. This year’s event focused on the theme “League of Extraordinary Veterinarians” and took place in Atlanta, Georgia at CDC Headquarters.

Jockeying Through Med School, Peterson To Ride First Mount At Del Mar

Farrin Peterson, 26, from Roseville in Northern California, is an honors student in her fourth year of studies at the University of California, Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. She's also named to ride Chocolate Goddess for trainer Aggie Ordonez in Friday's second race at Del Mar.

Congratulations to Our New Phi Zeta Society Members!

At an induction ceremony held May 1st, the prestigious Society of Phi Zeta, Lambda Chapter, welcomed 35 new members (20 seniors/15 juniors). Phi Zeta is the honor society of veterinary medicine which recognizes the scholastic achievement of junior and senior students and recent veterinary graduates. The society’s objective is to recognize and promote scholarship and research in matters pertaining to the welfare and diseases of animals.

Evening of Gratitude 2018

The school held its annual Evening of Gratitude dinner on April 18th, a special occasion that brings together scholarship donors and student recipients to celebrate the power of philanthropy. Students received $6.7 million in total support from scholarships and grants this year, thanks to the generosity of individual, association and corporate donors who make these new and continuing awards possible.
