Dr. Ceri Weber Appointed as Assistant Professor of Integrative Physiology

Dr. Ceri Weber has joined the Department of Anatomy, Physiology and Cell Biology as Assistant Professor of Integrative Physiology.

Dr. Weber earned her BS in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology from the University of Washington in 2013 and her PhD in Cell Biology from Duke University in 2020. Since 2020 she has been a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology, at the University of California, San Diego, CA working with Dr. Kimberly Cooper.

Dr. Weber's research program explores how the remarkable diversity of the mammalian axial skeleton develops and evolves. She works with murine models and the lesser Egyptian jerboa using multi-omic approaches, tissue-level patterning, functional morphology, and comparative evolutionary biology techniques to reveal how individual vertebrae acquire their distinct forms. This work has broad relevance to musculoskeletal development, spinal disorders, and animal ecology.
