Equine Therapy Helps Dementia Patients

The Center for Equine Health is home to a dementia research program by the UC Davis School of Medicine and Connected Horse.  Horses have a long history of working in a therapeutic way with children, trauma patients, or those with disabilities. The Connected Horse Project has taken that knowledge and applied it to those with cognitive impairment and their care partners. Typically, programs focus on either the patient with the diagnosis or the care partner separately, but the Connected Horse Project brings them together.
