In Memoriam: Dr. Arthur A. Bickford

We are sad to announce the passing of Dr. Arthur A. Bickford on July 29 at the age of 86. Dr. Bickford was instrumental in the operations of the Turlock branch of the California Animal Health and Food Safety Laboratory (CAHFS) from 1984-2001, serving as branch manager for 13 years and associate director for nine years.

Renowned in his field, Dr. Bickford was recognized with the American Association of Avian Pathologists’ Hall of Honor, as well as many other accolades throughout his career.

Dr. Bickford was instrumental in establishing the Avian Residency Program at CAHFS, with the residency ultimately becoming endowed and named for him. This endowment provides support in perpetuity for avian residency students and ensures the future of this important training program and resources to the poultry industry.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Arthur A. Bickford Endowed Avian Residency Program fund.
