During the Napa area fires in October 2017, the UC Davis Veterinary Emergency Response Team rescued 3 dozen koi fish from abandoned or burned homes. They were taken care of at the UC Davis Center for Aquatic Biology and Aquaculture. On December 19, some of those fish returned home.
