Research Focus
My primary research interest is focused on flow directed minimally invasive hemodynamic monitoring and its potential application to perform fluid therapy optimization in a goal directed fashion. Flow based hemodynamic monitoring has been shown to improve patient outcomes in human medicine and it is my hope that a similar benefit may exist in our patients. The area of flow directed hemodynamic monitoring is fairly unexplored in veterinary medicine due to invasive nature of various modalities/techniques used to perform flow (cardiac output) measurement precluding its utility in standard clinical practice.I am focusing my efforts on studying minimally invasive technologies to measure blood flow in small animals so that if a good validation is obtained then the technology may find a direct application in the clinical patient management.
