2013 SOT International ToxScholar Outreach Award. This is a competitive award for SOT members to travel abroad and give presentations to cultivate new collaborations.
2014 Carnegie Diaspora Fellowship Award. This a competitive award for Scholars of African Origin working in institutions of higher education in the US to travel to select Institutions of higher learning in Africa for purposes of cultivated collaborations.
2014 SOT Global Senior Scholar Host Award. A competitive Award by the Society of Toxicology to host Senior Scholars in the field of toxicology to foster international collaborations.
2018 Iowa State University CVM International Service Award. This is an award by the College of Veterinary Medicine to a faculty member that has done outstanding service to support international activities.
2018 SOT Global Senior Scholar Host Award. A competitive award by the SOT to a lab to host a senior toxicology scholar from developing countries to cultivate research collaborations.
2019 FDA Vet-LIRN Method Collaboration Award. This was awarded by the FDA to a lab within the VETLIRN network that has contributed significantly to development of a new veterinary toxicology diagnostic method.
2020 Fellow, American Association for Advancement of Science. This was awarded for efforts on behalf of the advancement of science or its applications for being scientifically or socially distinguished. This was in recognition for my scientific contribution in veterinary toxicology.

Research Focus
Currently my research has focused in two areas. 1) Basic research investigating hydrogen sulfide-induced neurotoxicity and neurodegeneration; and 2) Translational veterinary toxicology a) developing a dignostic test for sodium monofluoroacetate intoxication in aniamls and b) investingating the toxicity of inorganic bromide in pregnant cows.
