Expanding the Veterinary Medical Complex: An Update
Building tomorrow, together.
We have exciting updates to share as we advance Veterinary Medical Complex expansion!
PRIMARY CARE HOSPITAL AND VETERINARY EDUCATION PAVILION
The new Primary Care Hospital and Veterinary Education Pavilion is one step closer to becoming a reality. The project completed its planning and design criteria phase and is now moving into the design-build phase, where the architect and construction team will work together to create the new two-story building. Once it opens in fall 2029, the facility will allow UC Davis to increase its class size of veterinary students, helping to address the growing veterinary workforce shortage.
Learn more about the project on UC Davis’ Design and Construction Management page.
SMALL ANIMAL HOSPITAL
The Small Animal Hospital, an expansion which will allow the school to care for thousands more animals every year, is also rapidly moving forward. Design criteria are being finalized, and a public bid for design/build teams to submit proposals is anticipated in the coming year.

THANK YOU
We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of our philanthropic partners who continue to come forward to help make this expansion possible. Your generosity is helping transform veterinary medicine, expand access to world-class care, educate future veterinary leaders, and improve the lives of animals and the people who love them.
Together, we are building a brighter future for veterinary medicine.
