Congratulations to the Class of 2024 who received their degrees from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in its 74th Commencement Ceremony held at the Mondavi Center on May 24th. Among those graduating were 145 DVM students, 31 residents and 17 students in the Master of Preventive Veterinary Medicine program.

'95, DVM '97 shared her journey as an African American woman navigating the veterinary profession. She took attendees of the talk through her career journey, which started with her undergraduate studies and veterinary school at UC Davis, working in private practice, before returning to the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine.

Ruth Goins, a second year DVM student at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, was recently elected president of the Veterinarians as One Inclusive Community for Empowerment (VOICE), a student-led organization promoting diversity. With diversity-building experience from a previous position, as well as her current presidency of a local VOICE chapter, Goins looks to continue that leadership as she transitions to the national level this fall.
