Two faculty members from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine have been named to chair the board of the North American Veterinary Regenerative Medicine Association (NAVRMA). Associate Professor Amir Kol is the new Chair, while Professor Boaz Arzi assumes the role of Vice Chair of the organization.

NAVRMA started in 2010 when a group of UC Davis faculty and others recommended that an organization be formed following the inaugural North American Veterinary Regenerative Medicine Conference. Attendees and speakers of the initial event found it to be extremely useful and hoped for continued research and distribution of information regarding veterinary regenerative medicine for all species. To that end, a committee of research scientists and veterinary practitioners formed NAVRMA, which now sponsors an annual meeting similar to the inaugural event. NAVRMA’s ongoing mission is to encourage professional improvement and the exchange of knowledge and ideas among people interested in veterinary regenerative medicine.

“The overarching goal of NAVRMA is to foster the exchange and distribution of educational scientific information and its clinical applications between research investigators, veterinary practitioners, and animal industry participants regarding new developments in regenerative medicine and stem cell therapy,” said Dr. Kol.

As the incoming Chair of NAVRMA, Dr. Kol will oversee the entire breadth of operations including organizing the annual conference, which will be held this year in Kona, Hawaii on September 21-24, 2023.

As Vice Chair, Dr. Arzi will work with Dr. Kol to spearhead the leadership of the organization to the future, as well as assist in organizing the 2023 conference.
