Poultry Specialists Win National Awards
Two professors in the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine’s Department of Population Health & Reproduction recently won awards recognizing outstanding achievements in their work with avian diseases. The recipients received their awards at the 2025 American Association of Avian Pathologists (AAAP) Annual Meeting, held this summer in Portland.
Simone Stoute, DVM, Ph.D., DACPV, won the “Y.M. Saif Outstanding Case Report in Avian Diseases.” Given annually, the award is named for prominent avian pathologist Dr. Yehia Mohamed "Mo" Saif, a professor emeritus from The Ohio State University who served as editor of the Avian Diseases journal after his retirement. It recognizes the best case report published in the journal.
Rodrigo Gallardo, DVM, Ph.D., DACPV, won the “P.P. Levine Award,” given annually since 1964 for the best paper published in Avian Diseases the previous year. When reviewing nominations, the AAAP Awards Committee members take into consideration: clear statement of objectives, originality of approach, clarity of presentation of data, and impact of results on science.
Congratulations, Drs. Stoute and Gallardo!
