Welcome to the VSR MediaLab
As part of the Department of Surgical & Radiological Sciences (VSR), the MediaLab is a full-service visual media resource supporting members of the VSR department with a wide range of creative and technical services, all provided free of charge to department members. Located in the basement of Tupper Hall, the MediaLab supports research, teaching, and clinical work through figure production for publication, medical illustration, large-format poster and specialty printing, photography, scanning, videography, video editing, equipment checkout, and technical support. Whether you need high-resolution figures that meet publisher standards, instructional or promotional videos, professional photography, poster printing, or help troubleshooting software and devices, the MediaLab functions as a collaborative partner—helping transform ideas, data, and workflows into clear, polished visual outputs tailored to your audience and purpose.

About Me
Chrisoula Toupadakis Skouritakis, PhD, has served as Director of MediaLab Services since 2016 and brings a rare combination of scientific training, teaching experience, and visual communication expertise to the role. She has been at UC Davis since 2001, earning a double degree in Biological Sciences and Art Studio before completing a PhD in Molecular, Cellular, and Integrative Physiology. Her doctoral research focused on fracture healing using autologous stem cells. In parallel with her research career, she has taught college-level anatomy and physiology, worked as a lab technician and dissection specialist, and has practiced as a medical illustrator since 2009. With more than a decade of research and higher-education teaching experience, and nearly two decades of medical illustration experience, Chrisoula approaches every project with a deep understanding of both the science and the most effective ways to communicate it visually.
