Faculty are the heart of UC Davis Veterinary Medicine
Since the school was founded in 1948, faculty have used foundational and clinical research, new teaching approaches, and a collaborative, One Health mindset to keep the university at the forefront of veterinary medicine. The majority of faculty who begin their careers at the school end up retiring from here. At UC Davis, faculty drive the profession forward with a global mindset while experiencing the perks of a university environment in a mild, livable Northern California environment.

I ❤️ my job @ucdavisvetmed. Our lab motto is basic science benefiting patients. We aim to do that in animals and people.”
Dr. Crystal Rogers | Associate Professor, Anatomy, Physiology & Cell Biology
UC Davis is, by far, the most collegial and collaborative academic environment that I have ever been a part of. I love working in this gorgeous location with colleagues who are open-minded and supportive.”

UC Davis is a Special Place to Be
The Campus
is a beautiful hub of intellectual life, and the School of Veterinary Medicine has its own corner of the campus that is bordered by an arboretum and the campus stables.
The City
is inclusive and fun. We have a charming farmer’s market that tops many national lists. We have 60 miles of greenbelt—a continuous stretch of protected bike trails through shaded parks. And we have funky art galleries, shops, live music and bookstores.
The Region
Whether you live in Davis or one of the surrounding communities, you’ll be a day trip away from the beach, snowy mountains, San Francisco, Silicon Valley and six national parks! The capital of California, Sacramento, is only 15 miles from Davis. Whether you’re into skiing, museums, food, wine, technology, politics, big cities or wide open spaces, your interests are close to UC Davis.
