2023 2023 Association of Avian Veterinarians (AAV)/Lafeber Manuscript Award for Best Original Research. The manuscript competition is based on an evaluation of all original research and clinical reports published from September of the previous year through June of the current year.

The criteria for evaluation included:
-methodology and quality of figures and tables;
-strong results and sound conclusions;
-contains new information that is not already well documented in the scientific literature;
-originality/novel approach; and
-impact/relevancy to the field of avian medicine and surgery.
