Research Focus

Musculoskeletal Injury Epidemiology, Pathogenesis, and Biomechanics: The primary research focus is the epidemiology, pathogenesis, and biomechanics of repetitive, overuse injuries in equine athletes. The second research focus is Silicate Associated Osteoporosis in horses, a systemic osteoporotic disease associated with inhalation exposure to cytotoxic silicate particles and granulomatous lung inflammation. Other areas include biomechanical function of musculoskeletal structures and treatment of orthopedic disorders in domestic animals.

Specialty Focus

Musculoskeletal biomechanics; etiopathogenesis of repetitive, overuse injuries; equine locomotor anatomy; racehorse musculoskeletal fatalities
