Graduate Student Support Program (GSSP)

About the Program

The Graduate Student Support Program (GSSP) is a competitively awarded fellowship opportunity sponsored by the Office of Research and Graduate Education, in the School of Veterinary Medicine that is awarded to help close the gap between existing funds and the students' expected cost of attendance. GSSP awards are intended as supplemental funds for graduate students working towards their PhD or Master’s degrees in veterinary affiliated research. The fellowship program provides supplemental funding for graduate students with or without a veterinary degree who are working on their research project required for degree completion. Applicants must be actively engaged in obtaining the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Master's (MS) degree or a research-based Master of Preventive Veterinary Medicine (MPVM).

Students seeking a PhD (no DVM), post-DVM PhD, or MPVM are eligible to apply to GSSP only if their primary mentor has a primary appointment in the School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM). VSTP students are eligible to apply regardless of the primary affiliation of their primary mentor, as long as their research project is related to veterinary medicine.

Mission Statement

"To seek, secure, and grant support on a competitive basis to the most outstanding individuals seeking advanced scientific training degrees in a specific field of biomedical sciences and whose primary research mentor has an appointment in the School of Veterinary Medicine"
