Dr. Pamela Lein Honored with 2022 Mentoring Award

Dr. Pamela Lein was recently awarded the 2022 Mentoring Award by the Women in Toxicology Specialty Interest Group of the Society of Toxicology. An important mission of this group includes mentoring and guidance of young women considering careers in toxicology, and to support the career growth of women in toxicology.

“This recognition is particularly meaningful to me because I consider mentoring to be one of the most important things I do as a faculty member, and it gives me the most satisfaction,” said Lein, who serves as a professor in the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine’s department of Molecular Biosciences and director of the CounterACT Center of Excellence.

This award is given to an individual (male or female) in academia, government, industry, or a related field who has been a major influence in the mentoring of women scientists considering the field of toxicology, those entering the field of toxicology, and/or whose leadership and service have provided career development opportunities for women toxicologists or encouraged women to achieve their professional goals.

Lein has mentored numerous graduate students and postdoctoral scholars in her laboratory, many of whom have gone on to leadership positions in pharmacology and toxicology. She was also one of 34 faculty members honored in 2020 by UC Davis Graduate Studies with a Graduate Program Advising and Mentoring Award.

Congratulations, Dr. Lein!
