Ultrasound

Ultrasound imaging, involves exposing parts of the body to high-frequency sound waves to produce pictures of the inside of the body. Ultrasound exams do not expose the patient to ionizing radiation, and are used to visualize body parts in real-time. Real-time visualizations include structure and movement of the kidneys, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, and vessels. Veterinarians can use ultrasound to help diagnose conditions such as: pancreatitis, enlarged organs, kidney/bladder stones, portosystemic shunts, and to guide needles for biopsies of tissue.Ultrasound imaging can be performed quickly, using minimal restraint or sedation.
