Dr. Fauna Smith Wins Inaugural American Dairy Goat Association Leadership Award
The American Dairy Goat Association (ADGA) annual convention was held recently in Indianapolis, and Dr. Fauna Smith was recognized with the inaugural Innovation in ADGA Leadership Award.
The new award celebrates vision, dedication, and innovation. It recognizes ADGA members ages 25–49 who demonstrate leadership early in their dairy goat careers through service to the ADGA, participation in its programs, and meaningful contributions to education, outreach, or mentorship.
Dr. Smith is currently chief of the UC Davis Large Animal Hospital’s Livestock Herd Health and Reproduction Service.
The ADGA recognized Dr. Smith’s leadership and commitment to helping the association and dairy goat community grow.
The ADGA was organized in 1904 to collect, record and preserve the pedigrees of the dairy goats and to provide genetic, management and related services to dairy goat breeders. ADGA members include more than 15,000 members including individuals, families, and herds. ADGA has registered more than 2 million dairy goats and hosts 1200 or more shows annually.
