Innovation and Economic Development Office (IEDO)
Aggie Square
IEDO is based at Aggie Square, an innovation district located on UC Davis’ Sacramento campus where university researchers, private industry and the community collaborate to drive research breakthroughs and opportunities in human health and life sciences.
Health Ventures
With an emphasis on cell and gene therapy, neuroscience, oncology and food as medicine, the Health Ventures team translates best-in-class human health research into commercial practice.
Venture Catalyst
Venture Catalyst plays a pivotal role in transforming innovative research into practical applications by fostering the development of university-affiliated startups through strategic collaborations, outreach and comprehensive support programs.
Aggie Venture Accelerator
The Aggie Venture Accelerator (AVA) is focused on supporting early-stage life science startups seeking to solve complex problems at the interface of human, animal and planetary health. We will back innovators confronting what we believe to be life’s most urgent challenges in an effort to bring a fuller, healthier and more resilient world within reach.
Over the past decade UC Davis has supported the launch of 300+ startups that have collectively raised over $4B. AVA will give new founders an opportunity to join a community of investors, entrepreneurs, and industry representatives focused on making societal and economic impact.
Technology Transfer Office
The Technology Transfer Office facilitates the transformation of technology to commercial applications and societal impact through a wide range of services including educational and outreach programs (both within and outside the university), filing patents, managing trademarks and copyrights, establishing licensing and commercialization agreements as well as enabling the formation of new companies.
Our office works with industry, community partners and researchers to ensure that new discoveries and inventions reach society to improve the lives of others.

Invention Disclosures
Submitting an Invention Disclosure, also called a Record of Invention (“ROI”), is the first step in protecting your interests, and the ideal time to do so is before your invention has been published, publicly presented, or discussed outside of UC Davis. Submit an ROI on the Inventor Portal or learn more about ROIs on the Tech Transfer Invention Disclosure page.
